WAIM-TV was owned by Wilton E. Hall, publisher of the Anderson Independent and Daily Mail newspapers (now merged as the Anderson Independent-Mail), along with WAIM/1230 and WCAC-FM 101.1 (now WROQ).
Among the WROQ/WAYS DJs to become major celebrities were Robert Murphy, later the WKQX Chicago morning host, and actor, comedian, Jay Thomas who went to KPWR as the official host of "The Power 106's Morning Zoo".
