3 unusual facts about River Neath

River Neath

A smaller tributary, the River Clydach, flows southward through the village of Bryn-coch to join the Neath in Neath town centre.

Here it passes close to the Norman castle, visited by King Henry II, King John and King Edward I.

River Nethy

It is considered to be cognate with the river names Nidd (in North Yorkshire), Nith (in Dumfries and Galloway) and Neath (in South Wales) and arises from a supposed nido meaning 'gleaming'.
