2 unusual facts about Richard Arnell


Richard Arnell

Arnell composed the music for The Land (1942), a 45-minute documentary film directed by Robert J. Flaherty for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Arnell had left sketches for a Seventh Symphony, dedicated to Nelson Mandela, at the time of his death, and it has since been realised and completed by Martin Yates.


Martin Yates

After attending Kimbolton School (1969 - 1974), he studied at the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music, London, where his teachers included Bernard Keeffe (conducting), Richard Arnell (composition), Ian Lake, Jakob Kaletsky & Alan Rowlands (piano) and Douglas Moore & John Burden (French horn).

Patrick Jonathan

A former student of Stanley Glasser, Edward Gregson and Don B. Ray, he cites the great English symphonist Richard Arnell as his mentor, and a major influence on his creative life.
