The rulers of the whole area (except for the new delta of the Po) were the Este; the area was formerly named County of Gavello, but two centuries after the disaster and due to the decline of the Abbey of Gavello it started being named County of Rovigo.
She has excavated extensively in Italy, including major excavations at Osteria dell'Osa, Castiglione, Fidenae, as well as excavations at Frattesina di Fratta Polesine (Rovigo), and Specchia Artanisi di Ugento.
After World War II, it acquired several other credit unions (populare): Treviso in 1950, Polesine in 1980, Cavarzere in 1982, and Valdagno in 1987 In that same year the bank took the name, Banca Popolare Veneta.

The first evidences of the originary built-up area of Grignano are documented by some papers of 938, related to a donation by the marquess Almerico and his wife Franca, in which they left all the possessions in the territory of Adria, the latters contained the village of Gragnano (the actual Grignano), together with other small agglomerates like Arquà Polesine, Borsea and Crespino, still present in the Polesine.
