2 unusual facts about Mute Swan


Lord Arthur Hervey

In the 1870s one of Hervey's daughters trained the Mute Swans in the five sided moat at the Bishops Palace to ring bells, by pulling strings, to beg for food.

Satpada

A small island called "Rajahamsa" is situated near this place at the mouth of the lagoon, named after a bird Rajahamsa.


Srebarna Nature Reserve

39 mammal, 21 reptile and amphibian and 10 fish species inhabit the reserve, which is most famous for the 179 bird species that nest on its territory, some of which include the Dalmatian Pelican, the Mute Swan, the Greylag Goose, the Marsh Harrier, the Bluethroat, herons and cormorants.
