Church of St Vigor, Stratton-on-the-Fosse

This church is one of only two English churches dedicated to him, the other being at Fulbourn in Cambridgeshire.

Fulbourn

These parks enhance the area's business environment beyond what was started by the creation of the Science Parks which date from the 1980s and 1990s.

The main settlement around the Parish Church of Saint Vigor has extended in post-war years west towards Cambridge and north in a narrow ribbon of development towards the former station on the Ipswich to Ely Line (Cambridge branch).

Max Townley

Townley was the fifth son of Charles Watson Townley, who was Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire from 1874 to 1893, and was born at Fulbourn.

Saint Vigor

After the Norman conquest of England, his cult was established there, and two English churches are dedicated to him, at Fulbourn in Cambridgeshire and Stratton-on-the-Fosse in Somerset.


Beaupré Hall

Upon Sir Robert Bell's passing following the events of the Black Assize of Oxford, in 1577, the hall passed to his son Edmonde, and his heirs successively until finally in 1741, Beaupré Bell bequethed the hall to his sister who married William Greaves, of Fulbourn.

Walter de Fulburn

His brother Stephen de Fulbourn (died 1288) was Walter's predecessor as Bishop of Waterford and was Archbishop of Tuam 1286-1288; their nephew Adam de Fulbourn also held several clerical and judicial offices in Ireland.
