Bruce Viles (owner of the Rocks Push) established The Basement jazz club at Circular Quay in 1973 and the Galapagos Duck opened there as the house band.
It is second only to Sydney’s Circular Quay as the busiest commuter port in Australia and it has the largest seaplane airbase in the Southern hemisphere.

On 8 July 2012, Ferguson was spotted by The Daily Telegraph at Circular Quay in the Sydney CBD, selling RSPCA merchandise under the name, Ray Ferguson and holding up a tin of kangaroo-shaped biscuits.
The Sydney Buses service route 422 runs along the Princes Highway from Tempe to Newtown to Circular Quay, in the Sydney CBD, while the 425 route connects Tempe to Dulwich Hill.
