AmSouth was previously known as First National Bank of Birmingham, which was first organized by Charles Linn in 1872.
The Linn-Henley Research Library is also named in honor of Linn and his descendants.
Ward attended the Powell School until he was sixteen and took a job as a runner for Charles Linn's National Bank of Birmingham.
