Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway

A branch uses trackage rights along Norfolk Southern from Kimbrough, Alabama west and south to Mobile, Alabama, with separate trackage at the end of the line in Mobile.

Crewe, Virginia

It was founded in 1888 as a central location to house steam locomotive repair shops for the Norfolk and Western Railroad (now called Norfolk Southern) which has a rail yard there for east-west trains carrying Appalachian coal to Hampton Roads for export abroad, and the street pattern was laid out at that time.

Downtown Binghamton

Downtown Binghamton can be defined as encompassing the area north of the Susquehanna River, east of the Chenango River, west of Brandywine Avenue (NY-7) and south of the Norfolk Southern tracks.

Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley and Pittsburgh Railroad

Interstate 581

The southern end of I-581 offers views of the downtown Roanoke skyline, most prominently the Hotel Roanoke, the Wachovia Tower, the former Roanoke Shops of Norfolk Southern, the Norfolk Southern tower, and St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Keystone Corridor

Norfolk Southern operates overnight freight service between the western junction of the Trenton Cutoff (a former Penn Central electrified "through-freight" line) and just west of Parkesburg via trackage rights, mainly supplying the Mittal steel plate manufacturing plant in Coatesville.

LYNX Red Line

It is proposed to follow a northerly path along the existing Norfolk Southern O Line right-of-way, roughly paralleling North Graham Street and North Carolina Highway 115, as it extends through north Mecklenburg County.

Pennsylvania Route 378

Route 378 continues northward through Polanski Park and crosses a Norfolk Southern railroad line before crossing the Lehigh River on the Hill to Hill Bridge.

Port Authority of Allegheny County

Studies for a commuter rail line from downtown to Arnold along the right-of-way of the Allegheny Valley Railroad and from downtown to Greensburg along the right-of-way of Norfolk Southern railroad are also underway.

Remington, Virginia

Later, it was a stop on the Orange and Alexandria Railroad called Rappahannock Station, but the O&A was eventually absorbed into the Norfolk Southern system, and the Remington spur fell into disuse.

Southern Railway 4501

On January 8, 2014, Norfolk Southern announced on their Facebook page (by sharing a picture that was posted by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum) that 4501 passed its FRA hydro test, and that all of its wheels were placed back underneath it.

The highway has a grade crossing with a Norfolk Southern rail line and crosses over the Reedy River and the Swamp Rabbit Trail (formerly Greenville and Northern Railway) on the western edge of downtown Greenville.

SR 419 crosses over Norfolk Southern's Christiansburg and Whitethorne district rail lines and parallels a rail spur through an industrial area that contains a General Electric facility.
